Music for Dance Sport - Standard Ballroom (Waltz)!

Now this is the second series of my dance sport, and today we going to talk about Waltz!

Waltz

Now waltz is by far the most popular among standard ballroom, to the point there is even a phrase that uses this genre of dance! "He waltz through the examination hall...". That is the amount of grace that this dance actually brings!

Now in case you are wondering what is waltz, pretty much most of the disney movies uses this dance. Cinderella, Frozen, Rapunsel and so on, pretty much all of them. As long as there is a medieval setting with a ball, likely there will be a waltz dance!

Please please please, watch this clip. This is a honour dance, awarded for the best of the competition to do a dance to wrap the whole competition off. Watch this clip, I swear it is worth your time. That grace, it is so so beautiful. It is my dream to be able to dance with my future spouse standard ballroom. Unfortunately, she doesn't dance so I kinda have to give up dancing as well...

That aside, watch this clip. What grace, what elegance! Simply beautiful! Look at the frame, how the posture of the dancers are! Madness...

Origin

Well as elegant as it is, this is the oldest dance among all of standard ballroom. However, the origin is a bit different from the glamour and elegance we see today. Why? It is actually a folk dance by peasants in Germany. Media portrayal was that this dance was actually by the highest and the most powerful, royalties and all. However, it is actually by peasants originally. Something new aye?

Look at this couple. How they literally waltz through the ballroom! I have utmost and immense respect for them. True enough, they were crowned world champions recently. World champions, that is like olympic gold medalist equivalent man.
