Hello everyone, it's time for modern ranked match. As you know I have been playing frontier ranked match for a long time so I thought of playing Modern Ranked battle in Splinterlands and after so long I got to enjoy an interesting game because my opponent owned level 3 cards. This match had a huge 85 Mana cap even though this much was not required for me.
But, the ruleset that made the battle quite dangerous is Noxious Fumes. It means each team will start the battle poisoned and would take damage at the beginning of each round. So, I knew this was going to be a battle where I needed to have a team who could bear it to the end.
Mana: 85
Ruleset: Noxious Fumes (All units start the battle Poisoned)
Elements: Fire, Water, Earth, Life, Death and Dragon. (All available)
As you can see the mana is 85 and all elements are unlocked, so, I decided to go with my new team which is from Death element. Thanks to @zoe01 for helping me with it. So, I wanted to use a combination of melee and magic attacks and I didn't want all of my attackers to be melee. When you have magic cards they can give lots of damage to the ones with shield. So, I was trying to make use of those abilities that could help me win.
The biggest problem was the Noxious Fumes ruleset. Every card is going to be poisoned so I had to use cards which had big health and strong defense.
Here was my lineup:
Summoner
Thalgrimore - All enemy units have -1 Health (Level 1)
1st Position – Nim Guard Captain (Level 1)
2nd Position – Spellmonger (Level 1)
3rd Position – Sorrow Harvester (Level 1)
4th Position – Vengeful Monk (Level 1)
5th Position – Great Bear Druid (Level 1)
6th Position – Black Widow (Level 1)
I have put Nim Guard Captain in the first position because he always gives his best in the frontline and it's not easy to get him down because of his shields. Behind him, I placed Spellmonger, followed by Sorrow Harvester. Sorrow Harvester's Weaken ability was another useful addition because it reduces the maximum health of all enemy units. I think I should have replaced Spellmonger with something else because it was useless.
I also used Vengeful Monk because he is very powerful and he has the Opportunity ability.
Great Bear Druid and Black Widow were placed toward the back to provide additional damage and end the rest of the cards of enemy team.
When I saw my enemy, Tozbek, I had to pay attention to build a strong team. I thought the enemy had a strong team because they are all leveled up and I have never seen those unique cards before.
The battle started under the Noxious Fumes ruleset, so both of our team was poisoned from the beginning. For this reason the battle was faster than a normal battle because the cards were losing health every round even without being attacked and they were getting eliminated.
The battle was not for so long. After a few rounds, both teams had already lost several cards because of the constant poison damage. By Round 4, only a few cards were left standing tall. Rest of my cards continued attacking while the poison kept doing its work.
So, my team managed to eliminate the remaining enemy team and the battle ended with a VICTORY.
I was happy with this result because the team worked exactly like it was expected. I'm glad the battle was quicker.
In the end my rating got to 320 in Bronze III, from the battle I also got +81 Glint.
Before the battle, I decided to spin the wheel and there was some nice rewards waiting for me from the Daily Streak.
So, I got +1 Free Spin, and **+500 Sparks with +50 Bonus Sparks.
Then I used that free spin and luckily I got the Carnival Card Skin but I already had this item. So, instead, I received +100 Sparks and +10 Bonus Sparks.
This was a quick but enjoyable Modern Ranked battle. Noxious Fumes ruleset didn't let me waste too much time. I liked how my Death team performed. I am at Bronze III with a 320 rating in modern ranked match. My goal is to keep playing and continue getting to higher tiers.
