Hey guys, how is your Splinterlands matches been going? I am here to share another Modern Ranked battle with everyone. This time I got a 48 Mana battle. I was hoping to get another win and this time I got a victory.

Match details

Mana: 48
Elements: dragon, life, death, fire, earth, water
Ruleset: Fates Certainty
Modifier: Affliction, Poison, Poison Burst and Stun have a 100% chance to trigger.

So this was a little different battle because of the high mana limit and the Fates Certainty ruleset. With 48 mana available, both of us had plenty of room to bring out heavy hit cards. But with Fates Certainty active, any unit that has status abilities like Poison or Stun would trigger them guaranteed every single time. That meant status effects were going to play a massive role and could melt health bars super fast.

My Team

With 48 Mana available I decided to use Barthalamas as my summoner.

I picked Barthalamas because he gives +1 Speed to all friendly units at the start of the battle. Because of the Fates Certainty where status effects hit with 100% certainty, getting your attacks off first is extremely important. Attacking early allows you to land status effects before the enemy even gets a chance to hit back.

My lineup:

Summoner
Barthalamas

1st Position – Jolius Blast
2nd Position – Frankarsgard
3rd Position – Chaos Furybringer
4th Position – Vengeful Monk
5th Position – Great Bear Druid

My Team

I put Jolius Blast on the first position because I wanted to have a huge frontline wall to tank. He has 12 of health and his magic attack is really high so he will be a monster for dealing damage to enemy's front card.

Behind him I placed Frankarsgard in the second spot. He has 7 health and 1 armor, which I felt was a solid choice to hold the line if Jolius Blast went down. He also has a melee attack that would trigger as soon as he reached the first position.

For the third position I used Chaos Furybringer. So he utilizes his Reach ability to strike from the second position. I chose him because of his stat distribution and health pool which gave my middle lineup extra durability.

In the fourth position I placed Vengeful Monk. Normally I rely on him for his Opportunity ability to pick off low health enemy units but here I mainly brought him along for his attack stats and to help finish enemy line.

For last position I used Great Bear Druid. He brings a combination of ranged/magic presence and decent health serving as a reliable anchor at the back of my team to ensure we maintained attack pressure throughout the match.

Well fates Certainty ruleset is tricky because status effects hit without failing. So honestly I was curious to see how the status effects and raw stats would play out once the battle actually started.

How the Battle Went

My enemy was known as TENSOON. The battle commenced and we both summoned our teams to the board. My opponent also brought a powerful heavy mana based deck meaning the battle was anything but quick.

When the first round started my summoner Barthalamas gave me the +1 Speed boost to all my cards. That boost would prove to be invaluable at the very beginning of the battle. My units always managed to attack before the enemy ones in nearly every round.

At the front line Jolius Blast was doing miracle work. Taking heavy blows from the enemy's lead cards but holding his ground for a long time due to his great health pool, slowly wearing them down.

Behind him, Frankarsgard, Chaos Furybringer, Vengeful Monk and Great Bear Druid were waiting their turn while contributing their raw stats to the fight.

During middle rounds both teams started to give each others blows back and forth. The fight became sloww but there was too much intensity and I was constantly checking the health bars. But luckily my speed advantage was working out for me and I kept getting dominating my enemy.

In the last few rounds my enemy's front cards started to vanish and my Jolius Blast was performing really well. And my other cards rotated into the first position but they were also performing well.

The battle was for around 13 rounds it was a great match. I thought maybe I will lose this one but Franksgard saved our team.

I was able to secure a victory and received 20 ratings.

Looking Ahead

This was another Modern Ranked battle for me and this time I was able to get the victory. My team executed the strategy perfectly and choosing a speed-buffing summoner and after having a rough streak in my previous games winning a long 13 round battle like this gave me a lot of satisfaction. As you can see sticking to simple stat advantages like speed and high health can work out very good.

Thank you all for taking the time to read my battle report
