Wrong Monster Picks Cost Me the Battle — An Interesting 49 Mana Battle
Today's 49 mana battle was very interesting and I got the opportunity to play this battle with three challenging rulesets where I faced a tough defeat in 3 rounds. The game was finished very quickly because the enemy unit combination and status effect triggers worked better on the battlefield.
Before moving toward the battle breakdown and my strategy first lets understand the rulesets what is explained in these rulesets and what strategy and team combination I made according to them.
RULESET 1: SHAPESHIFT HAPPENS
This is a ruleset where all units have Shapeshift ability and are treated as all bloodlines. And what does this Shapeshift Happens ruleset do? It removes bloodline restrictions allowing units to benefit from diverse synergies.
According to this ruleset it is necessary to adopt a strategy where you combine versatile cards that maximize cross synergies.
RULESET 2: HIGH FIVE
This is a ruleset where you can summon a maximum of 5 units. And what does this High Five ruleset do? It caps the total team size at five cards instead of the standard full lineup.
Because of this High Five ability you cannot fill all six positions and must rely on higher cost units to utilize your available mana cap.
According to this ruleset it is necessary to adopt a strategy where you choose heavy mana cards that provide best combination for the team.
RULESET 3: FATES CERTAINTY
This is a ruleset where Affliction, Poison, Poison Burst and Stun have a 100% chance to trigger. And what does this Fates Certainty ruleset do?
It removes the random chance of status effects making land successfully every single time.
According to this ruleset it is necessary to adopt a strategy where you bring units that can apply negative effects while protecting your own lineup from being permanently locked down.
MY STRATEGY AND MONSTERS SELECTION
Keeping these three rulesets in mind what strategy did I adopt and which units did I select? I knew that under High Five I needed heavy units and under Fates Certainty I needed to watch out for monsters that have status effect.
First of all I selected my archon monster with -1 health ability. With this all enemy units will start the battle with -1 health power.
On the front line in first position I selected my main front tank with high health and armor to absorb heavy incoming damage.
In the second position I selected my second card with strong stats to maintain continuous pressure.
From third to 4th position I selected the mix magic and range attacker which keeps on attacking from the backside, weakens the enemy lineup.
In the fifth position I selected my final support unit that will punish the monsters who misses their turn.
ON THE BATTLEFIELD
When I looked at the enemy lineup on the battlefield it was also quite interesting. They had brought a powerful team with strong monsters.
The battle started with initial attacks coming from both sides.. Because of the Fates Certainty ruleset status effects landed successfully on almost every turn.
In Round 1 both sides traded heavy attacks. The battle started correctly as I expected.
In Round 2 the enemy pushed with the advantage. Their continuous attacks eliminated my frontline tank monster. During this time the battle was 4vs4.
Round 3 was very disastern for me. As round 3 started my 2 monsters were eliminated and I was thinking for the comeback but it didnot happened. My all four monsters were eliminated in the end of round 3.
At the end of Round 3 I faced a defeat. The main reason for this outcome was my wrong monsters selection.
What would your strategy be in this type of ruleset and which units would you give more preference to? Will be glad to see your answers in the comment section.
