I have been married to the same wonderful person for 23 years. We have had our issues just like most married couples do. Things always have a way of working themselves out.
Unless you are a silver or gold stacker. My wife and I usually see eye to eye on everything untill around 5 years ago when silver came into my life.
See I thought I was late to the Stacking game, as most people do. Silver has away of grabbing ahold of you, once you realize the value. So every bit of extra fiat cash I had went to silver, this drove my wife crazy. She actually thought that it was an indulgement for me.
All along she was the one that developed an indulgement, see she thhought, what goes around comes around, and since In her eyes I had Indulgement, then it was time for her to have one as well. All along I was blinded to her indulgement. So a year or so went by and I had acquired a small but humble stack of silver, and she had acquired a Large stack of makeup and debt. Thats right my so called indulgement produced ZERO debt, while hers produced more debt than I was comfortable with.
So I knew there wasn't going to be a good way to address this issue. So I decided to stop stacking silver for a little while until I could get my wife to understand the importance of what I was doing. At this point I knew that proof would help her understand. So I took half of my stack for one year and sold it, my intent was to give her the money and make her pay off her makeup debt.
So this is exactly what I did. I SOLD out half of my stack and gave it to her, she asked me what this was, I said I took half of my Indulgment and sold it. She asked me why? I told her to pay off her indulgment. She was a little set back and didn't understand yet what I was doing. So I said Honey let me explain. I sold half of my endulgement to pay off your indulgement, and in turn I would like for you to sell half of your indulgement and buy some of my silver back. The first thing she said was " once you use makeup you cant sell it." So I said, so its not worth anything? She said "well no not really but it is worth something to me". So at this point she started to understand the point that I was trying to make.
I knew it wouldn't be just as easy as that to get her understanding silver. So I started a little game with her, well not really with her cause she didn't play along. Anyways every time we went out, weather it was for dinner or shopping, I priced everything in silver. So If dinner was $54, I would immediately say, " wow dinner cost us 3 oz of silver. This drove her CRAZY, but over a period of weeks she understood that what I was doing was really just swapping money for something of value. She also begun to realize that at anytime I could turn the silver back into fiat paper money.
It was a win, win for me, see now my wife wasn't looking at silver as an Indulgement and she slowed down on her indulgment, see how I said SLOWED down. She hasn't stopped but I can't really fault her, she does work hard for her money as well. So in life you have to have a little indulgement.
So to all my fellow stackers, A HAPPY FAMILY STACKS TOGETHER. Please take the time to educate your spouse, remember there is only a small fraction of the people in this world that understand gold and silver. Chances of your spouse understanding is slim to none.
