There is something peaceful and serene about doves. I enjoy watching and listening to them.
I imagine they are sometimes mistaken as pigeons due to the similar body shape and coloring. I believe I have made this mistake in the past.
They are reasonably common here in North Florida, but you don't tend to see too many at one time, or for very long, in my experience.
When this dove puffed out his feathers he looked twice his normal size.
Here he is smooth again. A distant noise placed him on high alert. There are so many birds of prey here, they have to be careful at all times.
Moving on to the next adventure...
