Not only for us, as it is the same in featherland.
I will show you two fights in here, the first one was between two male Cape Turtle doves (Streptopelia capicola), (6 shots), and the second battle was between two male Speckled Pigeons (Columba guinea). (4 shots).
The birds hardly damage each other during their fights, as it is just more of an aggressive show to warn an intruder not to enter their territories. This does not happen every day, and we only see the arguments every now and then. We call the doves by their old specie name, as it is more descriptive, and in my mind, I call the doves Ringneck doves. Same with the Speckled pigeons, as we call them Rock doves.
This battle between the doves lasted for about 10 minutes, and I took about 20 shots of it. There is not enough space to post all of the photos, and I have only posted a taste of it in here.
So, after a lot of fluffing and showboating, the intruder decided to depart.
And here below there was also another battle going on.
They are two rock pigeons, and I can tell you that these are very strong birds. Even when all of the doves scatter when a Sparrow Hawk appears, the rock pigeons stay put, as they know that the sparrow hawk will not attack them. I don't think that the resident Peregrine Falcon will attack the rock pigeons, because they are too big for him. I might be wrong, as I have never seen a peregrine with rock pigeon prey, and another fact is that the pigeons are very strong.
Doesn't this also make you think about all of the online fights between two aggressive persons if someone attacks them? Note that none of the fighters in this post have physically hurt or damaged their opponents, as it was only to protect their pride and their territory. Just so it is with all of the online battles that we see so many times. So, if you look at them in another way it is exactly the same as the fights in featherland. Lots of words to impress and also lots of showboating.
Such is life.
