You can already hear these birds drumming on the tree. The mating season and pair formation begins.
In spring and summer, woodpeckers feed on insects, which they collect from tree trunks or the ground, they also dig out anthills, and of course, they chisel the bark of trees, under which there is a lot of food.

In winter, they feed mainly on the seeds of pine, spruce, larch, which woodpeckers extracted from cones, tearing them off the branches and crushing them in their special holes in the trees - “forges”. In the spring, when the snow melts, you can see a lot of empty cones under the trees; it’s not difficult to guess that somewhere up there there is a woodpecker’s forge.
