The common redstart (Phoenicurus phoenicurus)
In Siberia, this bird is called a "burning tail". Indeed, the bird has a habit of shaking its bright tail, and due to this it seems that it is a burning dancing flame.
These bright birds arrive in the spring, when there are already plenty of insects that they feed on. And at this spring time it is quite difficult to get close to them, they are very careful.
But after a few months, when they have offspring, the behavior of these birds changes.
Seeing danger, the males jump out of the bushes and begin to whistle, shake their tail, thereby bravely protecting their nestlings and the female. They distract attention to themselves, so they are ready to sacrifice themselves to take the enemy away. In the second half of this video, this brave defender jumped out of the tall grass and began to defend his family, but not from me. If you listen closely, you can hear the squeak of a chipmunk that entered the territory where the nest was located.
