Biryani (pronounced [bɪr.jaːniː]), also known as biriyani, biriani, birani or briyani, is a South Asian mixed rice dish of the Indian subcontinent.[1][2][3] It is popular throughout the Indian subcontinent and among the diaspora from the region. It is made with spices and rice. In restaurants in the UK, meat (chicken, mutton, beef, prawn or fish) or egg is usually added.
