In Nigeria, we don't pay much attention to holidays except the ones we join the world to celebrate, like Christmas, Easter, and the New Year. Especially for the less privileged, who are working hard day and night to make a living and live a sustainable life, they don't care much about the holiday because, to them, there is no time to rest; their life is all about earning a living. In Nigeria, we have just two seasons, which are the wet and dry seasons. The wet season is referred to as summer," which is from April to October, while the dry season is from November to March.
In the summer, I've always wished to visit the beach with my loved ones, go horseback riding and fishing, and experience life at its best because I go by the proverb "he who works daily deserves time out for enjoyment". Working hard every day with no spare time to have fun can make such individuals break down in no time. There must be a balance between working hard and enjoying oneself. Summer vacation is part of the privileged nature gives us as humans to have fun; why would I want to blow up such an opportunity by not enjoying myself?
In Nigeria, the summer holiday runs from late July to early September. This is the longest period of the holiday, which allows you to have time for yourself except for some government workers who go to work around the year. Working hard isn't bad, but denying yourself good things in life is what's bad. As a growing young lady, I love achieving my set aims, and this is why I don't give room for laziness and bad influence. Working diligently with discipline is my motto, but when it comes to relaxing and calming my nerves after working so hard, I bet I don't refuse because this also helps in viewing life outside your workspace.
During my time in school, the summer holiday is a no for me because the school will still be in session at that time, so my summer is spent in classes taking lectures, but after schooling, my summer holiday will be at work. Therefore, I haven't enjoyed summer as much as I wanted, but I'm hoping to spend my summer holiday some day at the beach, horseback riding, and fishing, and that will be a dream come true for me because summer is one of the most beautiful seasons we have in a year.
