Whatsapp is in the process of testing a new feature according to the reports from WABetaInfo. Whatsapp will be soon rolling out a new feature to delete the unread messages. Before, this functionaity was not available on whatsapp. When a message is unread and is available in notification, then deleting a message will also remove it from notification.
