Around the same time I got my pink banana seeds I also received my Orange Masters Pomegranate seeds and today I finally got around to planting them. This is a miniature pomegranate plant so that way during the winter months I can keep them in the house.
Here is what the seeds look like.
To start these trees I am planting them in a little plastic tub and when they start growing I will transplant them into larger pots. Every two years you are supposed to change out the soil since the soil will run out of minerals.
For the potting soil I used a mix of peat moss and compost. The compost is a bunch of leaves that have been sitting for a year or two. I soaked the soil since these plants like lots of moisture.
In order for the seeds to germinate the seeds themselves need to be exposed to sunlight so I just placed them on the surface and barely covered them up.
The fruit on these plants is smaller than regular pomegranates so it can be harder to eat them since they have a thick skin. I would like to grow full sized trees sometime in the future but for now I am going to stick with the dwarf varieties so I can keep them in the house during winter until I have a better setup.
I will do another post once I transplant them into bigger pots.
