Greetings my Hive friends! In the vibrant Caribbean music scene of the 1970s, Sexteto Los Blanco, originally from Venezuela, emerged as a creative force that left an indelible mark. Among his musical gems is the captivating song "Botala", which resonates with its infectious rhythm and witty lyrics. Recently, I immersed myself in the magic of this melody by performing a cover with my guitar and voice. The experience not only allowed me to connect with Venezuela's rich musical heritage, but also explore the depth of the lyrics that have endured over time. "Botala" is much more than just a song; It is wise advice wrapped in Caribbean rhythms. The lyrics suggest getting rid of what no longer serves us, whether it's an uncomfortable piece of clothing, a toxic friendship, or a relationship that doesn't fit. The message is clear: free ourselves from the ties that prevent us from moving forward and enjoying life. The repetition of the verse "Throw it away, put it aside, listen well to my advice and throw it away" reinforces the central idea, while the upbeat rhythm invites the audience to dance and leave their worries behind. The song becomes an anthem of authenticity and self-discovery, reminding us of the importance of making decisions that allow us to grow and prosper. Addressing everyday themes such as the discomfort of a tight shirt, the complications of friendships and dance preferences, "Botala" connects with the audience on a personal level. The universality of these themes is what has allowed the song to transcend time and remain relevant even decades after its creation. In my own performance of "Botala", I tried to capture the playful and optimistic essence that defines the song. The combination of upbeat chords and reflective lyrics creates a musical experience that not only pays tribute to the masters behind the song, but also invites the audience to reflect on their own lives and decisions.

Lyric (Spanish song)

Si tienes una camisa que te aprieta
Y ya no puedes usarla pues te cansa
Botala, apartala, escucha bien mi consejo y botala,
Botala, apartala, escucha bien mi consejo y botala
Botala, apartala, escucha bien mi consejo y botala,
Botala- botala, apartala, escucha bien mi consejo y botala
Si consigues un chica que te gusta
Pero bailar la guaracha le disgusta
Botala, apartala, escucha bien mi consejo y botala,
Botala- botala, apartala, escucha bien mi consejo y botala
