Bitcoin is going mainstream. CNBC and Bloomberg talk about it everyday. Yahoo has added it to currency watch. Big Bang Theory is doing a full episode on it. But there are still questions on using bitcoin in day-to-day life with historically high mempool and huge transaction costs. You can definitely not pay for your coffee with bitcoin.
I believe that once bitcoin is accepted as a concept in currency world, there will be scope for more than a few digital currencies. Bitcoin will always struggle with scaling and cost is prohibitive for day to day minor expenses. Litecoin / Dash or Bitcoin Cash will come to the rescue. I particularly like the team behind Litecoin and Dash. Both have huge potential and it is a matter of building ecosystem. Litecoin has a leg up in some aspects while Dash is building amazing user interface. Bitcoin Cash is pulling its act together and catching up fast as well. Who will gain more traction is difficult to say but there is definitely room for some low cost fast cryptocurrency and something has to bubble up.
