Slowly, but for life! 🐢🐢

¡Lentas, pero para toda la vida! 🐢🐢

One day in October 2017, some friends gave me a precious double gift.

They were two miniature moroccoy tortoises, so small that we didn't know if they were male or female. It was a precious gift that came in a shoebox.

They were so small that they could fit in any plant in the backyard.

As time went by I realized that they were females because their bellies were smooth and flat, they did not have any curves.

They spent their first two years indoors, in a cardboard box that I had prepared for them, but despite knowing that they grow very slowly, they remained almost the same.

So when they were already hard I decided to release them in the backyard of the house. I fenced the whole yard with cement bricks and made sure that they could not get out of their new home.

I didn't sleep well at night wondering if they would be ok, but as the days went by I adapted and saw that they adapted very well. In fact, after a few months they already had their claws well sharpened, touching the ground and eating all the time they started to grow.

I had several scares, needless to say! (They are good swimmers), whenever I bathed them I always left them drying in the front garden and as I am so absent-minded, I ended up losing sight of them.

Out of so many, just one I cried because I thought I had lost them, I even made a written announcement via WhatsApp to one of the groups in the urbanization where I live, to see if by any chance they had seen them.

On top of that, begging that if they had, they would return them.

Well, they were hidden in the same garden, and it was the next day when I saw them. Since they went out to eat and I just saw them. It was a great relief, since then I never left them out front again.

Luisa and Fiorela, I chose their names from some mothers-in-law I had 😆😅 (I hope they never know it), but I clarify that it was out of affection and nothing else.

They will be my companions and friends for all the days of my life, I am sure of that. They are two beautiful little turtles that make me happy.

Each one has something different.

Luisa:

  • Sleeps a lot
  • Eats a lot
  • She's the biggest, but she's the slowest.

Fiorela

  • She sleeps little
  • Eats a lot
  • She is very fast (for a turtle) but she is the smallest.

She called Luisa La Osa and Fiorela La Aventurera.

At the moment they are trying to sympathize with my cat Pepperoni and he with them since he is very curious and at times he scares them with his paws and jumps; and at other times he ends up being the scared one.

Luisa:

  • Duerme mucho
  • Come mucho

Fiorela:

  • Duerme poco
  • Come mucho

They are my life!

¡Son mi vida!
