This is the 3rd in my Poetry Please Dtube exclusive series. For the full impact I recommend watching the short film and poetry reading. But if you would prefer to only read the poem, here is the text version 🙂
A harsh guffaw summoning the dawn,
a penitent crow caws.
Awakened by tremulous cheeps,
warbling and murmuring water,
the wetland emerges from sleep.
Leaves shadow trunks,
stippled with light,
spring’s exhaled by trees,
dispelling the big freeze.
A pool reflects new life.
Reeds shimmy in breeze-born
sojourn from winter’s slow denial,
uplifted by the sun’s face,
choking the river’s flow.
Brown mirror patterned by branches,
capillaries of light, reflected on the surface,
bleeding life into currents drawn from earth.
Spring sings in roots and births in the canopy.
Birds chorus allegro, frogs harmonize.
Dogs grow wild, enthused by butterflies
drifting in blossom-blown cacophony.
Life’s prophecy, fulfilled in a sigh.
I was nominated by my good friend josediccus, cheers for the nomination buddy.
I would also like to say a big thanks to sunravelme and whoshim who helped me with this poem in a workshop about 2 months ago. I ended up re-writing about half of the poem today, partly based on their excellent feedback.
If you have enjoyed this poetry reading, you can check out similar work on my homepage @raj808. Thank you.
