Interesting read. I agree that principles 'govern' our lives (to some extent). I've seen some people with seemingly no principles get affected too much by their surrounding that it changes them, sometimes for the worse. So I guess it's good to have some.

This post reminds me of the first time I decided to have a principle and hold onto it. It's just a very simple one: I do not smoke and drink.
But I'm not going to tell people not to drink or smoke near me, only that I won't be drinking and/or smoking with them. And later, from that simple habit, somehow these were born:

  1. Don't be afraid to fail. This one is very effective for my art journey.
  2. Money does buy happiness. Based on my personal experience.
  3. Be grateful for what I have.
  4. We don't have all the time in the world. This is to boost myself at learning things. Although, I still haven't been able to do it as fast as I want. And to keep myself from doing less important stuff.
  5. Don't let anyone change the course of your life goal pursue. My ex gf tried to force me to stop chasing my dream and do other things that she wanted instead, I refused to listen to her and I'm sure I'll regret it if I did otherwise.
  6. Stay determined. By imagining how good it'll be when I finally achieve my life goal.

And the most recent one: Don't easily trust people ever again. Also based on personal experience.

The one hard thing to do that I find pretty cool that you do it, is "be kinder". I don't know how to fully do that when I'm surrounded by backstabbers. So, I hope no one will take advantage of this side of you. and everyone who has it as their principle.

...wow, this comment is longer than I expected XD
