When we lie to someone, one side of our mind knows that we have done something wrong, but the other side of our mind tries to justify it by giving many excuses.
When you speak the truth, you do not have to remember what you said, but if you lie, then you have to remember it for the rest of your life.
To hide one lie you have to lie a thousand more times. Therefore, it is always better to speak the truth.
