Taman sari is the site of a former garden or palace palace yogyakarta Hadiningrat, sari garden was built in the era of sultan hamengku buwono I in the year 1758-1765. Initially, the park which received the title of "The Fragrant Garden" has an area of more than 10 hectares with about 57 buildings such as swimming baths, buildings, suspension bridge, artificial lake, artificial island, water canal and underwater aisle. the sari garden that was used effectively between 1765-1812 originally stretched from the southwest of the Kedhaton complex to the southeast of the magangan complex. but now the only remnants of the sari garden can be seen only in the southwest of the kedhaton complex.
