I hope you all are doing well. Today I am back with another simple and colorful DIY drawing idea that I made with the help of pencil colors. This drawing features two cute little chicks standing together under an umbrella on a rainy day. I really enjoyed making this because it is colorful, simple, and also a lovely drawing idea for children.

I actually saw this idea on Pinterest and really liked it, so I decided to try making my own version by looking at the picture for inspiration. I used pencil colors for the coloring and markers for the outlines.So, let’s start with the drawing

Drawing the Umbrella

First, I started with the umbrella because it is the main part of this drawing. For the top of the umbrella, I drew a curved line, almost like a wide D shape. Then I curved the lower part a little to give the umbrella its proper shape.After that, I added the lines inside the umbrella. These lines divide the umbrella into different sections and make it look more realistic and attractive.Once the basic umbrella was ready, I started drawing the first little chick.

Drawing the Cute Chicks

For the first chick, I started from the head. I carefully gave the head a soft and rounded shape because I wanted the chick to look cute and fluffy.

After completing the head, I worked on its little wings or hands. Then I drew the body and finally added its tiny feet.
Next, I started working on the second chick on the other side. I followed almost the same process. I first shaped its head, then added its wings and feet.

However, I left some space between the two chicks because I needed to draw the umbrella handle in the middle.This part was important because I wanted it to look as if the blue chick was actually holding the umbrella.

So, I completed the umbrella handle first. Once the handle was in place, I finished the remaining part of the blue chick's body around it. Now you can clearly see that the little blue chick is holding the umbrella while both chicks are standing together under it.

Adding the Faces

After completing the basic shapes, it was time to give these little chicks their cute faces.I first added tiny eyebrows and then drew their round eyes. After that, I added their small beaks.One little detail that I really recommend is adding pink cheeks. I actually forgot to color the cheeks at first, but the pink cheeks make the chicks look much cuter and more adorable. So, if you are making this drawing yourself, definitely add a little pink color to their cheeks.

Adding the Rainy-Day Details

Because I wanted this to look like a rainy-day scene, I added some curved lines underneath the chicks to represent water.
Then I drew clouds above the umbrella and added raindrops falling from the clouds. These small details really helped to complete the rainy atmosphere.I also added a few little green plants around the chicks. They make the whole drawing look more colorful and lively.

Coloring the Drawing

Once the drawing was complete, I started coloring it.
I personally love using outlines because they make the drawing look cleaner and more finished. So, I used a marker to outline the umbrella and the other important parts of the drawing.For the umbrella, I chose red. I filled the umbrella with red pencil color and then added small yellow dots throughout it. I really liked how these yellow dots looked against the red umbrella.

For the two chicks, I chose yellow and blue. One chick is yellow and the other one is blue. I kept the outlines brown for their heads and bodies as well as their little feet.

For the clouds, I used a blue outline and filled them with blue pencil color. Finally, I added green leaves and plants around the chicks to give the drawing a fresh and colorful look.

I think this is a very cute and simple drawing idea, especially for children. It is a fun way for them to practice drawing, coloring, and using different colors together.I really enjoyed making these two little chicks under their umbrella, and I hope you also like my rainy-day drawing.
