The anarchism ideal is a world without bosses, politicians, or even leaders,
that is, an opposition to any kind of hierarchy and domination.
Since its inception, it was a vanguard movement, and greatly interferes in
our lives: studying in mixed rooms and free love are examples of the anarchist ideal.
The anarchic goal is self-management, with a libertarian society around the
world and mutual aid between individuals. And as technology grows further, we are closer to
this reality than ever before.
Technology advances used in a neutral, decentralized way, gives the
individual a voice. We saw the begining of this with the coming of the internet, ending the
passive way of receiving messages, in all its forms. It was the dawn of a new reality.
Free, shared knowledge. Open Source software made by people all over the
world. Free of charge, with the promise to gradually replace retailed software. Apps such as Uber or AirBNB have revolutionized the sectors in which they operate. The world's largest transportation fleet does not have a single car of its own, and the world's largest hotel chain does not own a single hotel. They are decentralized ideals, which empower an individual's and propitiate them to take action.
In anarchism, freedom determines necessity. With that in mind, glimpses of
communities around the world, with interest in an environmentally compatible north,
such as solar energy, are increasing their frequency, and community gardens that pop up
around the world, are in their own essence, decentralized. Autonomously created, in
previously passive communities.
Nowadays I go to work with my electric bike, I recycle my garbage, I am
a crypto-enthusiast and I'll only buy a car again when it's electric. All these ways of facing the
world are anarchic in their most natural form.
Knowledge is produced and shared collectively, without hierarchy, and as an
example, we have Wikipedia. The largest world's encyclopedia, is shaped, and improved
everyday by readers themselves.
"I do not consider myself an anarchist, but there is some anarchism in the
wiki since everything is done from the upwards," said Ward Cunningham, Wiki's creator.
Youtube today is another example of anarchist bias, breaking monopolies,
changing industry rules and opening boundaries in the entertainment area for
independent artists.
The Creative Commons system, where part of the intellectual property is shared,
and Copyleft, where reproduction is free as long as the source is quoted, are libertarian.
"We have voluntarism, cooperation, decentralization, bases of anarchist
thinking," said Mike Linksvayer, Creative Commons.
Technology allows individuals to dribble control of the flow of goods, coins
and information, and with the technology employed in the blockchain, for instance,
it's possible to act anonymously without state interference. Bitcoin, the world's most
expensive currency, is decentralized, that is, it has no central bank to control it, and every
day it gains more supporters, as the advantages are immense compared to the current global
monetary system.
Today, we have all sorts of governmental branches trying to not miss out this
technology opportunity, often referred to as a bubble.
It is our duty not to allow this happen, because, for now more than ever we
have all the means to do it. The power of the state will gradually be replaced by popular
power, and as man evolves, it is certain that we will move in that direction.
