Hello hiver!
I lost myself in the simple beauty of flowers in this series of black and white photos, selecting both wild species and those often seen in gardens. Beyond the vivid color, I hoped to reveal the delicate quality and basic architecture of each flower in black and white.
To clarify, I am not a botanist so I avoid getting into specifics or the exact names and traits of the plants. My approach is emotional and visual; it aims to capture the essence and form without perfect precision.
When flowers lose the brightness of color, they show a choreography of shapes and shadows. The veins and textures become the main focus. In the first photo, the tiny central flowers shyly appear in the middle of the frame, reminding us that the true flower often escapes a superficial glance.
I zoomed my lens on the flower's ethereal pom-poms in another shot. Their filaments seem like fireworks frozen in time in black and white; each stamen stands out like a stroke of light against the dark backdrop. Revealed by the absence of color, the fragility here is dual: that of the moment and of the structure itself.
Walking through parks and deserted lots, I found out how black and white places all have flowers on the same aesthetic level, therefore obliterating the line between wild and garden flowers and letting the viewer concentrate on the lines, contrasts, and shades that only grayscale can expose.
The visual narrative of this show encourages the viewer to approach without judgment and to find the underlying beauty of flowers when color doesn't divert; to think on the strong poetry of the little, the fleeting, and the everyday. Therefore, not having color is a chance to see how complicated and calm things are in every petal and stem. It's not a loss.

Me perd铆 en la simple belleza de las flores en esta serie de fotograf铆as en blanco y negro, seleccionando tanto especies silvestres como aquellas que se ven a menudo en los jardines. M谩s all谩 del color vivo, quise revelar la delicada cualidad y la arquitectura b谩sica de cada flor en blanco y negro.
Para aclarar, no soy bot谩nico, por lo que evito entrar en detalles espec铆ficos o en los nombres y caracter铆sticas exactas de las plantas. Mi enfoque es emocional y visual; busca capturar la esencia y la forma sin una precisi贸n perfecta.
Cuando las flores pierden el brillo del color, muestran una coreograf铆a de formas y sombras. Las venas y texturas se convierten en el foco principal. En la primera foto, las peque帽as flores centrales aparecen t铆midamente en el centro del encuadre, record谩ndonos que la verdadera flor a menudo escapa a una mirada superficial.
En otra toma, acerqu茅 mi lente a los pompones et茅reos de una flor. Sus filamentos parecen fuegos artificiales congelados en el tiempo en blanco y negro; cada estambre resalta como una pincelada de luz contra el fondo oscuro. Revelada por la ausencia de color, la fragilidad aqu铆 es doble: la del momento y la de la estructura misma.
Al caminar por parques y terrenos abandonados, descubr铆 c贸mo el blanco y negro coloca a todas las flores en el mismo nivel est茅tico, borrando as铆 la l铆nea entre flores silvestres y de jard铆n, y permitiendo que el espectador se concentre en las l铆neas, contrastes y matices que s贸lo la escala de grises puede mostrar.
La narrativa visual de esta muestra invita al espectador a acercarse sin juicio y a encontrar la belleza subyacente de las flores cuando el color no distrae; a reflexionar sobre la poderosa poes铆a de lo peque帽o, lo ef铆mero y lo cotidiano. Por lo tanto, la ausencia de color es una oportunidad para ver cu谩n complejas y tranquilas son las cosas en cada p茅talo y tallo. No es una p茅rdida.
