To truly grasp the importance of casting a witness vote, one must understand the significance of the steemit witness. There have been countless guides written on the details of that subject already, but for the purposes of this post, just understand that without dependable witnesses, the entire steemit platform would crash. Witnesses facilitate faith in the system, which in turn attracts the content of the internet community that ultimately drives the price of STEEM and SBD.
To say steemit would be nothing without them is an understatement.
Now we understand that we owe our steemit existence to these individuals, the question "Which witness do I vote for?" should be on your mind every day you use steemit. To answer this question, go to steemdb to find a full list + details of people you can vote for, then investigate them for yourself. Measure their dependability, transparency, goals, visions, and work in the steemit community against your own standards, and do not cast your vote until you know who and what you are voting for. These are the people that can potentially decide on the next hard fork, a change in the interest rate, or the price of registering new accounts, so err on the side of caution and abstain if you're not educated on the witness asking for your support.
I could end this by listing a bunch of well-written guides that have helped me, or by telling you the witnesses I prefer, but instead I'm going to continue with the spirit of this post and encourage you to research for yourself. There is a wealth of information on witness blogs, witness tags such as #witness-category, and over on the #witness channel on steemit.chat. If I have done my job here, you should be motivated enough to educate yourself on the matter. And after you're educated, head over here and choose the future you want to see.
