The pics I want to share you I took 2 days ago at St.Petersburg, Russia.
See, March, 8 is a special day here where I live - it is being celebrated with 98% population of the country. Considered as International Women's Day, its a
it is just a retaliation that women inflict on men who (in our country) have a holiday two weeks before, on February 23. February 23 was declared as the day celebrating the Soviet Army (no longer existing after the collapse of the USSR) > which is logically regarded as the Motherland defenders > that is, the defenders of the family > that is, uhm, any man at all. Even boys and girls in kindergarten are doomed to celebrate it :)
So, accordingly, for balance, women privatized the neighboring date and consider the March, 8 to be their sacred day. All over the country, men (be it grandfathers, fathers of families, teenagers or boys in kindergarten) should congratulate the nearest girls (classmates, coworkers, colleagues, female part of their family, etc.). "Everybody knows - thats the way it goes".
A classmate of my daughter bought 8 chocolates using his father's money, and congratulated all the girls in the class with a chocolate. Nice combo!
This boy "prepared himself" - he certainly does not go home to his girlfriend empty-handed. Look how tenderly and touchingly he squeezes his present and a big boquiet of flowers!

Women with flowers are the most common sight on the streets today.
And makeshift flower shops - you can see them everywhere, almost on every corner. The most common flowers traditionally selling on March 8 are tulips and mimosas. I think sellers are looking forward to this Day sales figures all for a whole year, hehe.
The streets are full of women and girls holding bouquets or a single flower. I deliberately did not go out on a photo hunt, I just photographed everyone who came across to me along the way :) This red girl casted a beautiful shadow I wanted to catch, I followed her for, like, 30 metres - but the picture didnt turned out well. Shadows are such a quirky stuff... very fluid and easily disappearing.
An old lady. She wasnt in rush and posed me... unintentionally. I didnt ask permission - this always spoils the game.
Cookies and cakes and wine go well together with flowers, too. (I dont mentioning wine and liquors here, haha. After this weekend waste-bins are 200% overfilled with empty bottles!)
Speaking of cakes ... This old woman apparently leads a lonely life, there is no one who would congratulate her and give her flowers, wine, cake ... you have to please yourself. But this is not necessarily the case - it's just speculation. Maybe it's just the opposite. She just walked her dog, and bought herself another cake, in addition to all the treats and gifts that are already waiting for her at home. It's just that my camera snatched this moment from life, and not another. And this frame does not mean absolutely anything.
My best and favorite shot of the day. And it has nothing to do with the holiday. It's just a piece of life captured by a camera, an honest picture showing the everyday life of the city and its habitants. The pupils return home and spend "lunch money" buying their favorite nonsense: candy and chewing gum. Isn't that cute?
