I decided to fill in this community with what I have (I know, activity and great posts to the group are always a pleasure for the group's founder).
A few macro shots of the violets we grow on our kitchen window. we dont have a garden, this window which (sometimes, from time to time) has some sun, is all our opportunities. I grow a bush of aloe, and my wife is growing a plantation of violets, and that;s almost all. (A little spot there left is utilized with the water drinking pot for our kitty)
Ok. This is named 'Red Rocket', a specie my wife have obtained at the exhibition. It has really gigantic flowers --
Watching recently a BBC series devoyed to the plants, accomodating to different environment, I suddely found out why violets have leaves that are red from the inner side. This is a useful feature... hint: it is to do with the lighting conditions of the typical locations, where the violets grow. Guess what it is for?

Compare to the wild ones, I have captured the picture at Ladoga skerries, at a burned island. Violets were among the first flowers that came in to habitate and reestablish the destroyed ecosystem.
