guess what it is? . .

IMG_1504_bw.jpg

no, it is not !
:P
cause its a mushroom !

...yesterday morning I was cycling to my new office, driving straight along the road. due to some vague whim, suddenly I changed my straight asphalt route for the grass lawn (!) and cut the corner, riding more crooked route. (later I reflexed it up and realized why I did it). Very soon on the said lawn, I saw a clearing spot with five wonderful grown and matured shrooms, got off my bike and unholstered iphone ( I had no camera with me).

Isnt it nice? what I realized from this story:
it is the mushroom that gravitated / magnetized me!

This intresting mushroom, that looks like a toadstool, is named Coprinus, or Koprinus (Latin Coprinus), is a genus of mushrooms in the family Champignon (Agaricaceae).

Actually its not only edible, but also very tasty! (they say, it tastes better than champignon! It is best when fried, but I have not tried myself yet). Young mushrooms can be used as food, and old mushrooms blacken and spread over time, they can not be collected. (see photo below. when I touched the mushroom, I got my fingers dirty, like ink, and then wiped them off for a long time).

if being consumed with alcohol, it gives a violent rejection reaction. therefore, it can be used to treat alcoholism (often secretly to the victim of the treatment). this mushroom can be harvested and stored dried, including a powder form. (and this powder can be secretly poured to those who are being treated for alcoholism). White Coprinus has a kindred appearance, named Gray Coprinus, which has even greater anti-alcohol properties!

They use to grow from May to September, on fertile soil rich in nutrients and humus: in parks, gardens, landfills, next to stumps and rotting tree trunks. The specimens I found, were sitting on an ordinary city lawn!

Over time, the old mushrooms turn black and 'blur'. Black mucus is the spore by which the fungus multiplies. In the past, some species of _Coprinus_ were used for ink preparation. Below are a few older shrooms, they are already turned to black and started their desintegration process. When I touched it, I stained my fingers, as if it was an ink, and then had to wipe myself for a long time). Such ink was used to sign important documents as a kind of “protection”: the authenticity of the signature was indicated by the presence of mushroom spores on it.
The ink manufacturing looked like this: mushrooms were put in a basin where the process of autolysis took place. The resulting liquid was filtered, glue and clove oil were added (the latter served as a flavor). Using these special inks, important documents and money bills were protected. When the ink dried, a peculiar pattern was obtained, which was examined under a microscope, and proved (or not) the authenticity of the document.

PS. i hope you enjoyed the pics and the little story, actually, it can be pretty useful. you may not upvote but please do resteem! I think more folks should have know its not a toadstool, but some champignon's brother, and maybe even enter / establish some foody relationships with it.
