A small report on our family walk at the Pavlovsky Park. This is a huge park, its territory is almost 600 hectares. It is considered one of the best landscape parks in Russia. The history of the park began in 1777, simultaneously with the founding of the town of same name, when Empress Catherine II donated a plot of land near Tsarskoye Selo to her son Pavel to honor the birth of the future Russian emperor Alexander I.

Since the middle of the XVIII century, regular planned parks with a clear layout went out of fashion, and were replaced by landscape ones, without a clear geometric layout, neatly trimmed trees and bushes etc. The landscape park involves a neatly-tuned natural beauty and at some spots even resembles a forest.

the ferns - not so picturesque in autumn.

Actually, we came to this park in the hope to find, feed and watch some squirrels. But at least some feathered friends came to the party, too.

This is a Poecile montanus, aka Parus montanus (in Russian: Буроголо́вая га́ичка, пухля́к, болотная синица). Very lively bird!

I enjoyed this 'yellow autumn oasis' in the middle of the green lawn. So moody!

Someone have found a little red mushroom. And implemented it to the monument in the most useful way - everyone could enjoy it and take a funny pic! I took a funny pic of the photographers, ofc.

After all we had a luck of a squirrel encounter. The one we met seemed... over-fed, spoiled and satiated. She ran to us to convey the offerings, and refused the delicious sunflower seeds we brought. She assepted only hazelnuts and almonds, the less she was not interested in ... That was the low point of our walk :=)

But I managed to get some pics, anyway.

Time to say goodbye. Thanks for stopping by!
