While I do not like the government politicians or the police. I have to agree with Charles Barkley here.
While there is plenty of evidence that the police are not only corrupt, but immune to their violent crimes without repercussion which is truly a horrible thing, having no security or police force would also be a horrible thing for many.
What we truly need is strict police reform, accountability, abolishment of immunity and better training and standards.
If you look at many European countries they have police and they have not killed a single person in a decade.
Now does this mean that they are perfect? No it doesn’t. does mean that they do not write tickets or sight people for stupid things?
No it doesn’t either.
However it is far far far superior to what we have in the United States.
I personally think that if every neighborhood in town has their own private security, adherence to the bylaws of those communities that would be ideal, but we are so far from that point.
It would not be that hard to simply train police differently hold them accountable to their actions, ensure and guarantee body cams are functioning at all times and abolish their immunities.
Then they either serve and protect or go to jail or at bare minimum are fired.
