Recently, I’ve finished watching the most anticipated korean drama which also has become the highest rated drama in korean cable television history (as of now), SKY Castle.
The drama revolves around the lives of families in a luxurious residential neighborhood called SKY castle, whereas each of the families prioritize their children grades and future, only to make their children entering the best medical school in the country.
And currently, I watched another drama with titled Beautiful World, that tells of an incident of school violence which leaves a young boy on the precipice of life and death as his family seeks justice in his stead, and as of now this drama already on episode 4, but it already gave me goosebump which made me think of how or in what way should I raise my children?
As it said, both drama are so relatable to us. As parents, we do wish to see our childrens get good grades and to have a better future, but does it really necessary to push them to study hard and packed their schedule with extra classes and read books all day? I don’t think so and I don’t feel it is right to do so.
Regardless of being strict with their study, we also need to balance their life as well, as they are still learning in adapting to this world, and I personally think it is harsh to take away their chances to see and enjoy how this life works. Rather than keeping them in the study room reading books, they also need to study something from outside of the books. They need to live and be alive.
As of the second drama, it is a serious matter as we also already seen that school violence and bullying are so common these days that comes to be a concern.
I couldn’t brain enough how those bullies can record themselves and proud on bullying others, it is just so upsetting how today’s generation are ridiculously nonsensical.
To relate both dramas, bullying and stress could bring towards depression then may lead to suicide, and it is worse to not to know as there are already so many cases on depression and suicide.
To avoid this to happen, I think as parents we need to earn our children trust first and foremost, by start to communicate more with them and ask about their worries and problems. It is better to make as a habit, because as they grow older they would think it would be unnecessary anymore to share their problems with us while the truth is, everthing is still necessary even when they turn 50.
Personally, I think both are such a good drama, I could see how it brings awareness towards the society about depression and bullying as these has become a concerning matters around the society now. It also shows of the consequences if it has taken lightly.
Don’t wait for it to kill you, but do seek help instead if you need one.
Sending love to whoever needed! xx
Do not blame the teachers if your kid doesn’t well behave as everything starts from home.
