Bullying or picking on the weak is something I hate and despise so much as a person, I don’t know why I am this way but I guess it is because of what I have seen and experienced in my childhood days regarding the case of bullying, whenever I see the weak being bullied, I go out of my way to help them, I make their business my business without being called upon, and this is because I know the end result of bullying…
I detest injustice, and even with the fact that life is not fair to each and everyone of us out there, that doesn’t mean we should go around picking on anyone we feel is below us because we know they can’t and will never be able to stand up for themselves, in this case, I believe there will always be someone around who is ready to stand up for these kind of people in crucial times, and I am one of the people in this category, I am always around to defend the weak when the need arises…
If ones actions keeps on hurting one particular person over and over again and I see no sign of guilt, remorse or the tendency to apologize for your actions, I step in because I see those type of people as a bully, I don’t want to know what kind of bullying it is, all I know is that; picking on people who we know can’t stand up for themselves is an act of bullying, and i as a person won’t condone such behavior…
I grew up under my parents as a very stubborn child, which means I have also acted as a bully many years back, but that was in my childhood days. When I started growing up, I started seeing things much differently and better, which made me decide to stand against bullying of any sort, and that was how I became a bullier to other bullies…
Without wasting too much time on my introduction, I will diving right into what I have for you all today, the subject of discussion is regarding standing up for others, join me as I share my two cents on this in the below paragraphs…
Have I ever had to stand up for someone because they couldn’t do it for themselves???
Yes, I have stood up for quite a number of people in high school because they couldn’t do it for themselves, they were hurting and couldn’t speak up because they felt like being used is the only way to keep their friendship with such person(s), it was quite evident that they were hurting but because they can’t speak up for themselves, they endured it and kept mute while they get used by the ones who claim to have the power, I have stood up for both my friends and non friends in crucial times…
I STOOD UP FOR HER…
This happened when I was still in high school, I was in senior secondary class one back then, this particular girl joined us second term, everything about her was average except her grades and intelligence…
She was very good in mathematics, english and biology, she, I and a couple of others are the toppers of these particular subjects…
She joined us newly as someone that is very outspoken, whenever we had a class going on and questions are being asked by our teachers, she is always the first to answer this questions, she is always a step ahead when it comes to mathematics, english and biology, I have seen her a couple of times reading ahead of our scheme of work…
She kept on doing her things that way, and teachers started getting to know her, she never knew she was setting herself up for enemity and bullying with that act, one day we had our biology teacher in the class, he asked us a question out of the blue and immediately this girl was about to say it, two of my female friends from the back just shunned her, they said and I quote;
shut up, are you the only one in the class, let someone else answer na…
This made our Biology teacher very angry that he punished my female friends afterwards, he was more furious at the fact that nobody could even answer that same question after they shunned off someone who knew it…
My friends came back to the class after serving their punishment, and this was the beginning of class war, the fact is that these my two female friends are the ALPHA FEMALES of the class, they did everything in their power to make everyone hate the girl, they made almost all the girls in their click hate the girl…
It got to a point where this girl started mingling with guys because she couldn’t even make friends with her fellow females in class, I was observing all this for a while without interfering, until one day…
The funniest thing is that they turned people away from her but whenever it’s time for assignment, they don’t hesitate to look for her, she too never said no to them until it became something else…
One day we had an impromptu test on mathematics, there was a strict invigilation that day, the girl and I were opportuned to sit together so we actually kind of worked on it together, we shared answers with each other…
After some time, we started hearing some crazy sounds at the back, this was coming from those two girls and their clicks at the back, she couldn’t help them because of the invigilator present, time was going so I convinced her to go submit before it’s too late, she did just that and here is what happened next…
After the test, they all started running their mouths at how selfish and stingy she was with her answers, and how she is acting proud because she was brilliant, I didn’t interfere at first but when I saw the girl in tears I was forced to talk back at them…
They made an extrovert into an introvert with their words and actions, still yet they weren’t satisfied, this was how I bursted in anger and took her side, I made them know what they did wrong and how they needed to apologize to the girl for making her a bad person…
In summary, after that encounter, a few people came around to apologize to her , but these two alpha females who were my friends before she joined us never apologized…
In conclusion, I made her feel better afterwards, she was better after the apologies, and this was how everyone started taking her seriously once again, she now came back to her old self…
I gave up my friendship with those two alpha females after that encounter because I saw them as bullies and I hate bullies, I expected them to be humble enough to apologize but they couldn’t do that, and that was how our friendship ended…
