There are a few reasons why people are on steemit
To make money (prepare to be disappointed)
To have a say and get your views broadcast
They are both valid reasons and no one should have a problem with anyone being on here for one or the other or both.
Personally I registered because I have a lot of random shit floating in my head and thought it was better out than in.
I like the way the platform works easy to use and easy to understand once you have researched it.
I watched a lot of videos and read some articles on the concept and do's and don't.
I think its important to understand this is not a get rich quick scheme and most people wont make life changing money (sorry to ruin your lambo dreams)
It's important to realise a lot of time and effort needs to be put into this to make it work as a minnow
Things to try
Follow people of interest and hopefully get followers
Upvote and comment on posts
Use bots? people are for and against this but totally down to you -research it
use resteems to get to a wider audience

Check out some of the free comps you can take part in, sports, poker, lottery, games and others check out contest tag
Try helping other minnows, to help everyone rise together everyone starts out the same and some people have become huge by hard work and timing but you will too don't quit and keep your expectations levelled
Try enjoying yourself its not all about money
Overall just try to be active and genuine there is no substitute for class.
