Deciden de qu茅 lado est谩s, cu谩l es tu perfil, qu茅 deber铆as sentir y c贸mo tendr铆as que actuar ante la vida.

Sometimes I look around and I am amazed by how much of a hurry people are in to classify everything. We live in a hyperconnected era where speed seems to have beaten understanding.

People meet you through a screen or see you on the street, hear a single opinion or observe a particular gesture, and in a matter of seconds, they have placed a label on your forehead. They decide whose side you are on, what your profile is, what you should feel, and how you ought to act in life.

I recently read a post by emiliorios@emiliorios about this trend, and it got me thinking about how accustomed we have become to these mental shortcuts. At my age, if I am convinced of anything, it is that no human being fits into a rigid mold.

Life is not a still photograph; it is a long journey with very different seasons. In my own path, I have navigated moments of professional recognition and dynamism, as well as periods of deep austerity, where the priority was simply sustaining my home, caring for my son, and resolving the day-to-day without making much noise. Having lived such opposing realities has taught me that people are neither a quick diagnosis nor a prefabricated category.

That is precisely why this current inclination to see everything in black and white exhausts me. It seems the world has lost the ability to inhabit nuances.

Nowadays, if you set a healthy boundary to protect your peace, someone will inevitably label you as selfish or distant. If you prefer to remain silent in the face of conflict to avoid feeding chaos, they say you don't care, that you are indifferent. If you don't join the current trend or the fashionable way of thinking, you are automatically left out of the group. So you have to go like herded cattle just to be part of something, to fit in, even if you don't belong.

Folders are imposed on us to archive who we are because it is extremely convenient for society to simplify everything; that way, they save themselves the effort of listening to the full story that each person carries on their shoulders.

What is truly complex about this dynamic is not just what others think, but the impact it has on mental health. When we allow external labels to determine how we should see ourselves, our identity begins to crack.

That silent anxiety arises from trying to fit into molds we didn't even choose, alongside low self-esteem from failing to meet unrealistic expectations, and a constant fear of social rejection if we dare to think differently. Ending up locked inside the label assigned to us by a group or an algorithm is a subtle way of disconnecting from our own humanity.

Labels do not build bridges; they raise walls. They distance us from the community, divide families, and turn conversations into trenches where no one seeks to understand, but rather to be right. To break that cycle, we need to stop the inertia, turn down the noise of our surroundings, and remember that nuances are the only place where real coexistence is possible.

At this point in my life, I prefer the peace of mind that comes with having my own criteria. I refuse to fit into anyone's quick recipes or express diagnoses. My life does not fit into a single word or slogan, and neither does the life of the person standing in front of me.

Shaking off that need to classify everything and to let ourselves be classified is an act of absolute liberation. At the end of the day, it is about letting the world think whatever it wants, while continuing to walk at one's own pace, with feet firmly on the ground and a calm mind.
