Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes un trabajo que le mandaron a mi hijo en el colegio. Debía hacer con material de reciclaje, las capas que conforman el planeta Tierra. No es que haya quedado precioso pero es su esfuerzo, su sacrificio, que lo hizo con una sonrisa. Pusimos buena música y yo le ayudé a hacer su maqueta.
Lo primero que hicimos fue buscar en el cajón de las cosas que se guardan "por si acaso" a ver qué teníamos. Afortunadamente teníamos todo lo necesario. Pero decidí comprar plastilina pensando que podría ser útil (no fue así).
Ya con pinceles, pinturas al frío, la bola de anime y el plumón de color negro, teníamos lo necesario. Así que ¡manos a la obra!

Today I want to share with you an assignment my son was given at school. He had to make with recycling material, the layers that make up the planet Earth. It is not that it was beautiful but it is his effort, his sacrifice, he did it with a smile. We played good music and I helped him make his model.
The first thing we did was to look in the "just in case" drawer to see what we had. Fortunately we had everything we needed. But I decided to buy some play dough thinking it might come in handy (it didn't).
Already with brushes, cold paints, the anime ball and the black colored marker, we had what we needed. So let's get to work!
Lo que hicimos fue compartir el trabajo porque la bola de anime estaba cortada a la mitad (ignoro porqué, pero así la encontramos). Entonces cada quien cogió una mitad, pero antes de eso, mi hijo dibujó con plumón negro el contorno de cada continente (desde su criterio de niño).
No podíamos hacerlo separados porque la idea era que al unir las dos mitades, hubiese armonía. Una vez hecho esto, procedimos a coger cada uno su mitad.
What we did was to share the work because the anime ball was cut in half (I don't know why, but that's how we found it). Then each one of us took one half, but before that, my son drew with black marker the outline of each continent (from his criteria as a child).
We could not do it separately because the idea was that by joining the two halves, there would be harmony. Once this was done, we proceeded to take each of us our own half.
Ahora Gabriel y yo pintaríamos cada uno su parte, pero él se regiría por mis directrices porque tengo un poco más de experiencia que él. 😉
No teníamos color marrón, por ello mezclamos los colores naranja, un poquito de amarillo, rojo y una gotita de negro. Esto es para lograr el tono de la tierra y antes de secar, pintar encima un poco de verde, con leves pinceladas de amarillo, a fin de lograr esa apariencia que da la Tierra vista desde el espacio.
Now Gabriel and I would each paint our part, but he would go by my guidelines because I have a little more experience than he does 😉.
We didn't have brown, so we mixed the colors orange, a little bit of yellow, red and a little drop of black. This is to achieve the tone of the earth and before drying, paint on top a little green, with light brushstrokes of yellow, in order to achieve that appearance that gives the Earth seen from space.
Para pintar el océano, fue el mismo procedimiento. Teníamos azul oscuro y lo mezclaríamos con una gota de color blanco para obtener el resultado esperado.
Después, había que cortar dos círculos del mismo tamaño que la circunferencia de la bola. Para eso, coloqué la bola de anime sobre la cartulina que sería cortada a su medida, mientras Gabriel cortaba los banderines que llevarían los nombres de cada capa terrestre.
To paint the ocean, it was the same procedure. We had dark blue and we would mix it with a drop of white to get the expected result.
Next, two circles of the same size as the circumference of the ball had to be cut out. For that, I placed the anime ball on the cardboard that would be cut to size, while Gabriel cut the pennants that would carry the names of each earth layer.
Ahora solo faltaba pintar las capas internas de la tierra. Ese era trabajo de Gabriel, porque prefirió hacerlo solito. Una vez pintadas las capas internas de la tierra, era momento de colocar los banderines tanto por fuera, como por dentro.
Now all that was left to do was to paint the inner layers of the earth. That was Gabriel's job, because he preferred to do it by himself. Once the inner layers of the earth were painted, it was time to place the pennants both on the outside and inside.
Bueno, este fue el resultado final. Como les dije, no quedó perfecto, pero mi hijo se sentía tan orgulloso que no podía dejar de compartirlo con ustedes. Además que hizo su exposición vía WhatsApp y la profe escribió lo siguiente:

Como madre, no puedo sentir otra cosa que no sea orgullo. Se está haciendo grande y este crecimiento viene cargado de principios, de buena educación, dedicación, diversión, alegría y sobre todo un infinito amor.
