驴Qu茅 es para m铆 la depresi贸n?
En mi casa hab铆a muchas filtraciones, goteras.
No quer铆a hablar con nadie, no quer铆a ver a nadie. Me fui aislando de todos.
驴C贸mo super茅 la depresi贸n?
Escribiendo.
As铆 que comenc茅 a escribir, a escribirle a la depresi贸n, a explicarle c贸mo me estaba haciendo sentir.
Poco a poco comenc茅 a sanar.
Comenc茅 a explorar posibilidades y formas de solucionar.
"Con nuestra mente podemos crear un para铆so del infierno, o un infierno del para铆so".
Gracias!!!

First of all, I want to wish everyone a nice, relaxing and happy weekend doing whatever provokes you, to those who celebrate Thanksgiving, keep on celebrating. For my part, I am grateful to this wonderful community that motivates us to be better, to grow as people through the great initiatives that its various members bring to us. It is a community that definitely does not rest, in order to help its users.
This time, @gsbilbao, one of the members of the community, invites us to reflect on depression, how we face it and how we have managed to overcome it, from the experience of each one of us.
What is depression for me?
It is a feeling of pain that occurs as a result of some unpleasant experience that plunges us into a pessimistic, negative mood and usually triggers imminent crying.
I' ve gone through some very dark moments this year, moments in which I have felt I have lost the floor, the north and the hope. I think that since my mom went to heaven, my life has been dulled. We were kindred spirits, we were very close and when she left, she took a part of my soul and my heart with her. I'm sure if I hadn't had my son so young for those days, if he hadn't been with me, depression would have overcome me and I would have died of sadness.
I miss her still, I would like to take her out of the pictures and hug her, kiss her little hands, comb her gray hair, paint her little mouth pink as she liked and kiss her little face as she used to do when she got sick, tell her how much I love her and I will always hope to see her again.
That has been the most painful thing I have ever experienced. But this year, it has not been a physical loss that has plunged me into depression, but the financial aspect. I lost my job, inflation was eating my country and of course, our pockets were getting empty. In my house there were many leaks, leaks. The walls literally cried every time it rained, it was desperate because I had no way to pay for the repairs.
In addition to this, I have had many health problems, all caused by depression. The consequences are a hiatal hernia and stomach ulcer. The treatments were so expensive, I could not afford them. My ex-husband, who had always supported me with the maintenance of our son, was also going through very hard financial times and could not help with anything. But as my mother always said: "where two eat, three eat", that's what I did and I invited him to eat because I knew he didn't even have enough to eat.
I spent the whole time crying, depressed and sleepless. I didn't want to talk to anyone, I didn't want to see anyone. I was isolating myself from everyone.
How did I overcome depression?
Writing. I started using those tools I knew when I studied psychotherapy, but in the midst of my depression, I didn't remember I had them.
So I started to write, to write to the depression, to explain how it was making me feel. I wrote to frustration, bitterness and loneliness. First I wrote to each feeling separately, with rage, with anger, with crying, with all those feelings that were eating me up inside.
Drawing was also my way of letting off steam, when the words just danced in my mind without any order. Images of my feelings and fears.
Then, I wrote to the same sentiments thanking each of them for the learning they were giving me and believe it or not, I began to see everything that was happening to me from another perspective. Of course, it is not an overnight job; it requires patience, total honesty, discipline and time. There were several letters to each feeling.
Little by little I began to heal. I think this exercise of writing is simply wonderful. It is healing from every point of view.
When you start to write, to give free rein to your emotions through the pen, you feel that you are releasing those heavy burdens that you carry on your shoulders and you begin to experience a sense of peace, of tranquility.
Then I made a list of the good things in my life, of what I have, both material and spiritual. I began to explore possibilities and ways to solve.
Most of all, I started talking and thinking positive. I let go of negativity. Let's remember that the word has power and that every thing that comes out of our mouth, every word we say, is energy, an energy that reaches the Universe and becomes a reality.
Little by little things started to flow. I got a loan to be able to repair the most urgent part of my roof and although I am still paying that loan, when it rains, I can now enjoy the presence of the rain, there is no more stress in that sense.
Health-wise, I have been feeling better, but I have noticed that when I am nervous or worried, the pain comes up. So I try to calm down, take deep breaths and instead of worrying, I take care of it.
I don't deny that from time to time the little devil of depression has wanted to return, but I haven't let it. When a negative thought tries to enter my mind, I immediately say, "I take power away from it." "I decree good, I bless it and I want to see it." And poof, it vanishes the same way it tried to enter.
So I think, no, rather, I am sure that the key to fight depression, sadness, is thoughts. Let's remember what Og Mandino says in his book "The World's Greatest Miracle":
"With our minds we can create a paradise out of hell, or a hell out of paradise."
Do not allow depression to take hold of you. There are times when you may need psychotherapy sessions, which are decidedly wonderful, healing. But if your depression is just beginning, you have the tools at hand to heal yourselves. They are:
- Watch what you say. I repeat: the word has power.
- Instead of worrying, take care of it.
- It is okay to cry, what is not okay is to stay stuck in the crying.
- Write it all down, drain it all out by putting your feelings on paper. With rudeness, with anger, with the feeling you have at that moment.
Do not measure or control your emotions at the time of writing. - If the words don't come out, draw. Some people do better drawing their feelings.
- Do not throw in the towel at the first change, it is an internal work that requires patience.
Everything is possible friends, remember that always after the darkness, a beautiful sun comes out.
From my heart to yours,
Thanks!!!
