Hello fellow Hivers. This is my offering for this week's open mic. I chose this song firstly because it is a nostalgic song about Autumn leading to Winter, so it fits our theme nicely, but also because I love the feeling of a Jazz waltz.
The original was from a comedic, musical play, called 'The Fantasticks', which was first performed in 1960. The song has been covered by so many people since then, including Gladys Knight and The Pips. The lilting melody is sweet and pleasant to harmonise, whilst the words remind us of simpler times, when we were younger.
To record this I played piano and sung the main vocal together, then afterwards, I added some bass guitar, drums and a simple vocal harmony.
Thank you for listening and thank you to all who have recorded a song for this week, following the theme that I was kindly asked to choose.
