Rhus typhina/staghorn sumac
This post is about our rhus typhina/staghorn sumac.
They can easily be 16ft (5 meters) high and just as broad.
Also, they have big leaves 10-22 inches (25-55 cm) long.
What we love most about this tree is that is has green leaves during the summer with big red buds and during autumn the leaves changes color to yellow/red/brown all at the same time.
These trees look awesome when grown up.

It will be a tree someday
Sometimes, we just need to be patient.
Last late summer we visited @psionic-tremors' parents who have some big ones in their garden and these are reproducing like crazy.
When we mentioned that we really like them they said: "No problem - how many do you want?"
We went into the garden and saw many little trees everywhere in there garden growing from the roots of the big ones like weed.
We extracted two - one about 10 inches "big" and the other about 3 inches. As we did so at the late summer they both lost their little leaves soon and we thought both were "dead".
Actually, the big one really died and we were very astonished when we saw the small one building some leaves this spring.
Here are some shots of a very small tree growing quickly now
I hope that we can take it out of the pot at the end of the summer and it will be 16ft (5 meters) high soon :)
Enjoy the rest of the week and
