Some time ago a friend contacted me to make use of my artistic skills and design him a character that he would use to represent his new venture, a "foodtruck Pizza shop" 🍕; I made a first design to present it to him and detail what changes I could make to resemble the character he had in mind, he highlighted several aspects of the design that he did not like and he asked me to do it with an illustration technique comic-like.
Hace un tiempo atrás un amigo me contacto para que hiciera uso de mis habilidades artísticas y le diseñara un personaje que usaría para representar su nuevo emprendimiento un "foodtruck pizzería" 🍕; realicé un primer diseño para presentárselo y que me detallara cuales cambios le podría hacer para asemejarse al personaje que él tenía en mente, me resalto varios aspectos del diseño que no le gustaban y me pidió que lo hiciera con una técnica de ilustración parecido al cómic.
In the following weeks I dedicated myself to studying that style of drawing, I saw innumerable videos of many comic illustrators, (how to make muscles, how to create original characters, how to create facial expressions, etc); I had no idea how to do that style of drawing, that's why I had to feed myself with information and references to be able to make and deliver a quality job to my friend.
En las semanas siguientes me dedique a estudiar ese estilo de dibujo, ví innumerables vídeos de muchos ilustradores de cómic, (como hacer musculatura, como crear personajes originales, como crear expresiones en los rostros, etc); yo no tenía idea de como hacer ese estilo de dibujo, por eso tenía que nutrirme de información y referencias para poder realizar y entregarle a mí amigo un trabajo de calidad.
Really, carrying out this research was very productive, since I have been planning to create a graphic novel for a long time and I had no idea how to start doing it, but thanks to this study in which I undertook to create this illustration, I managed to understand more depth the world of illustration, comics and graphic novels; At this moment I feel very confident to carry out this project of creating a graphic novel and I already know the aspects that I have to consider for its creation 😏.
De verdad que realizar esa investigación fue muy productiva, ya que desde hace tiempo tengo pensado crear una novela gráfica y no tenía idea de como comenzar a hacerla, pero gracias a este estudio en el que me comprometí para crear esta ilustración, logré comprender a mayor profundidad el mundo de la ilustración, el cómic y las novelas gráficas; en este momento me siento con mucha confianza para realizar ese proyecto de la creación de una novela gráfica y ya conozco los aspectos que tengo que considerar para su creación 😏.
I added color to this illustration with colored pencils 🖍️, since I still don't have colored markers to do this type of work, that's why there is a lot of deficiency in the inking of this design; I'm pretty sure the markers would have been better for the comic style the client wanted, but I went to great lengths to get a good finish with the basic colored pencils I have.
Le agregué color en esta ilustración con lápices de colores 🖍️, ya que todavía no cuento con marcadores de colores para realizar este tipo de trabajos, por eso hay mucha deficiencia en el entintado de este diseño; estoy completamente seguro que con los marcadores hubiera quedado mejor el estilo de cómic que el cliente deseaba, pero realice un gran esfuerzo para dejar un buen acabado con los lápices de colores básicos que poseo.
This is the result of 3 days of work and 3 weeks of studying to understand a drawing style that I am not familiar with, I am completely satisfied with the final work and the best thing is that the client loved this illustration 🦾😁; It fills me with great happiness that there is confidence in my art in my work, grateful to all those who support my art 🎨. Este es el resultado de 3 días de trabajo y 3 semanas de estudió para comprender un estilo de dibujo con el que no estoy familiarizado, estoy completamente satisfecho con la obra final y lo mejor es que al cliente le encantó esta ilustración 🦾😁; me llena de mucha felicidad que haya confianza en mí arte en mí trabajo, agradecido con todos los que apoyan mí arte 🎨. Espero que este post sea de su agrado, buenas vibras 🖖🏼.
