On this occasion, I returned to Fortín Solano, the ancient fortress from which you can observe the entire port city where I live. I decided to take several photos to show how the city and the sea look from up here. Additionally, since I was next to some high-quality fixed binoculars, I took the opportunity to take a few shots through the lenses. In this post, however, I will only show you the photo I liked most from those, along with the rest of the landscape images from above, where you can appreciate the city lights, the sea, and the cloudy sunset.
There is something imposing about being at the fort. It puts everything into perspective; the city looks so small and organized from this height, a complete contrast to the chaos one feels while walking through its streets. Watching the transition of the sky, with its layers of clouds mingling with the fading light, makes you realize how constant yet changeable this landscape is.
Using the binoculars allowed me to focus on specific details of the port that are usually lost in a wide-angle shot. It forces you to isolate a single point of interest—a ship, a distant rooftop, or the waves breaking against the shore—and really look at it. Sharing these images with you is my way of documenting a place that has seen so much history and still stands guard over our coast. I hope these views convey the sense of calm and perspective that I found while standing there today.

En esta oportunidad, volví al Fortín Solano, la antigua fortaleza desde la cual se puede observar toda la ciudad portuaria en la que vivo. Decidí hacer varias fotos para mostrar cómo se ve la ciudad y el mar desde aquí. Además, como estaba junto a unos binoculares fijos de buena calidad, aproveché para tomar un par de fotos a través de la visión de estos binoculares. Sin embargo, en este post solo les mostraré la foto que más me gustó de esos binoculares, y el resto, imágenes del paisaje desde arriba donde se pueden apreciar las luces de la ciudad, el mar y el atardecer nublado.
Hay algo imponente en estar en el fortín. Te pone todo en perspectiva; la ciudad se ve tan pequeña y organizada desde esta altura, un contraste completo con el caos que uno siente mientras camina por sus calles. Observar la transición del cielo, con sus capas de nubes mezclándose con la luz que se desvanece, te hace darte cuenta de lo constante, pero a la vez cambiante, que es este paisaje.
Usar los binoculares me permitió enfocarme en detalles específicos del puerto que normalmente se pierden en una toma de gran angular. Te obliga a aislar un solo punto de interés —un barco, una azotea lejana o las olas rompiendo contra la costa— y realmente observarlo. Compartir estas imágenes con ustedes es mi forma de documentar un lugar que ha visto tanta historia y que aún sigue vigilando nuestra costa. Espero que estas vistas transmitan esa sensación de calma y perspectiva que encontré mientras estaba allí hoy.
