Hi everyone. Last Friday night, I was on my way back home after participating in a calisthenics competition. The event was organized by @paezworkout, who, by the way, also runs the best mini-donut business in the city. If you ever get the chance to try them, do not hesitate; they are definitely worth it.
As I was heading back, I ran directly into a 5K night race that was taking place through the streets. If you have seen my previous posts, you probably know that these running events have become incredibly popular around here lately. It is a good trend, honestly. Since the race was already in full swing, I decided to walk over to the finish line to check out the atmosphere and support the runners.
When I got to the finish line, I realized I knew quite a few people there. Some were long-time friends, and others were actually students from my own coaching services who had decided to sign up and test their endurance that night. It was great to see them pushing their limits outside of our usual training environment. I approached them to give them some motivation, congratulate them on finishing, and celebrate their effort.
Of course, being a highly competitive person, I could not help but banter with them a bit. I told them that for the next race, I would definitely be on the starting line with them, so they better train hard because I will not make it easy for them to win. We laughed about it, and it added a nice, healthy competitive spark to the interaction.
Even though I did not actively participate as an athlete in this specific night run, being there at the finish line was a solid experience. Sharing that moment with friends, fellow athletes, and my students reminded me of how much sports can bring people together, even during casual weekend recreational activities. It turned an ordinary walk home into a pretty decent Friday night.
Without anything more to add, I bid farewell. Stay tuned for future posts! Until next time!
