Hardcore Townsmen! #23 Entertainment & Morale
Hello Hive Gamers! Today I bring you the 23rd chapter of my hardcore Townsmen run. After fixing the damaged buildings and making sure the food supply was steady, I finally had some time to look at why my villagers were so unhappy. In this hardcore mode, I get so obsessed with just surviving that I forget the townnies are basically living in a permanent blizzard. Their unhappiness was starting to hurt our production, and I noticed everything was moving way slower than it should.
But I realized I had to check the icons above the buildings to see what was actually wrong. The guard barracks were running out of weapons and sausages, and the taverns were empty of wine. Even though my breweries are working, the demand in the city is just too high. I know I have to keep the guards and the taverns stocked if I want to keep the village safe and stable for the next winter.
However, I figured out that just giving them sausages and wine isn't enough to make them happy for long. I noticed I had been ignoring entertainment completely, and that was a big mistake. I used to think that as long as they had food and shelter, they would be fine, but I realized they need a place to rest and have some fun too. I decided it was finally time to build some stuff for them to do.
After that, I started building an archery tournament arena and a jousting field. These were not cheap, and it took a long time to finish them because materials are scarce in this eternal winter. It was hard work watching the laborers moving through the snow, but once they were finished, the villagers' satisfaction improved quite a bit. Finally, I saw them stop running back and forth just to take a break.
But there is still a lot to do. I realized that the satisfaction level improved, but it is not enough. I am already looking for a good place to put a fairground in the future, because I know that the more entertainment they have, the faster they will work. It is difficult to keep the balance in this hardcore mode, but seeing that the village is still running gives me the motivation to keep going.
