Great Conqueror 2: Shogun! #1 The Battle of Okehazama

English

Hello Hive Gamers! Today I am switching gears to talk about a brand new title that has caught my eye: Great Conqueror 2: Shogun. I have wanted to check out this game for a long time now because I absolutely love strategy games, especially when they involve samurai, tactical warfare, and katanas clashing on the battlefield.

Naturally, as soon as I downloaded the game, my immediate intention was to dive straight into the conquest mode. I love a good sandbox experience where you have the freedom to conquer the entire Japanese archipelago during the tumultuous Sengoku Jidai era. However, the game had other plans and made it mandatory to complete the first chapter of the campaign first: a quick historical scenario focusing on the famous Battle of Okehazama.

In this opening mission, you essentially take control of a portion of the Oda clan's army and must fulfill two primary objectives: recruit a specific number of units and defeat four enemy units belonging to the Imagawa clan. The enemy forces advanced aggressively from the south, deploying a mix of cavalry, Yari ashigaru, and archers. By concentrating my attacks, I managed to break their lines and cut down their Yari unit. At the same time, I started churning out the smallest and cheapest Yari units possible just to check off the recruitment objective quickly and efficiently.

Meanwhile, the Imagawa archers decided to target my main castle directly, which is never a great situation. Even though taking fire on the stronghold is annoying, it did not represent a serious threat. I had more than enough of a garrison and field army to handle them easily. Besides, this scenario acts as a tutorial designed to teach you the basic mechanics before you are unleashed into the grand sandbox conquest mode that I am so eager to play.

Consequently, this introductory battle proved to be an engaging and smooth introduction to the game's mechanics. With the tutorial victory secured and the core controls mastered, I am now ready to step out of the historical scenarios and plunge headfirst into the open-ended chaos of the Sengoku Jidai conquest. See you in the next chapter as we begin our campaign for unification!
