My dear friend, I don’t know what health issue you may be facing. I am a physician with two specialties: the first is what we in Cuba call Comprehensive General Medicine (Medicina General Integral), which focuses on treating the human being as a whole. There is a modern tendency to overspecialize health problems—for example, a cardiologist limits themselves to cardiovascular diseases, a neurologist to nervous system disorders, and so on. While these subdivisions may be necessary for greater expertise, they also have the limitation of fragmenting people into what they are not. The human body is an indivisible unit and must be treated as such.

From my other specialty, Psychiatry, it is increasingly evident how profoundly positive thinking influences overall health. Excessive worry about health and the associated stress lead to the overproduction of two hormones—cortisol and adrenaline—which, when elevated, weaken our immune response and the body’s ability to defend itself. On the other hand, positive thinking activates endorphins and oxytocin, which promote recovery and well-being. I assure you, these are the forces behind all healing miracles and wellness.

My sincerest wish is for your health to improve day by day. Declare with faith and confidence that one day you will enjoy full health and complete well-being. And so it shall be.
