Passion is its own reward, and your experience of the world is exclusive to you.

We're all, at some point, addicted. We get drunk and stumble on the self-generated self pity we feel when we're comparing ourselves to others.

Their money, their clothes, their good fortune in love or business can make some feel envious, others inspired, and still others. All things being equal.

We appraise ourselves through a lens shaped by an expectation, that we are all equal. That there is some game being orchestrated through illusory societal constructs like economy, and that the game is, must be, fair. Or at least amenable to restitution.

While onboard the USS Roosevelt I worked in the administration department among other places, and there I kept all teh records for everyone on the ship. I knew the details of the lives of over 3,000 sailors. I noticed something strange, something that I've never stopped noticing since.

We can't help but compare ourselves.

Daily, there were several sailors who had a friend who was in the same situation as they were but were getting either more pay or less pay. And it wasn't fair, because they were the same.

They weren't the same, and neither are any of us.

If we are first shaped by the caretakers who raise us and then further refined by our independent participation in our own lives, then there is no statistical way that any of us have had the same experience.

For those sailors, I would take the time to review their records and research their claims against the records of their friend. While I couldn't divulge any personal information, I could reassure them that they were, in fact, different.

I can reassure you that all of us are absolutely different, too.

So your posts aren't garnering adoration, it doesn't matter. What matters is that you are writing, sharing, and connecting with a community. I had stopped writing and sharing for the last several years and only read. The value I've derived from just starting to write again, in a community that gives me so much content to read every day, has been extremely satisfying and refreshing.

When you compare the value of your view against others, and base that in financial reward, you're always going to feel superior or inferior to another person, and you'll always be chasing after approval.

Instead of hopelessly comparing your steempower to others and deriving your value from the negative difference, compare yourself to your past self. Do yourself a service and derive your self worth from the positive difference between the old and current you.

Of the innumerable objects seen and unseen in the universe, there is only one that has any interest or obligation in seeing you receive your "fair" share of anything, and that's you.
