I asked my sister once about the iPhone since she is a user and often changes it or upgrades it to the next model. She told me that, for her, it's for comfort, and she is only habituated with it and can't use any other phone. She has to change the phone almost every year because of the upgrade version, storage...I still think it's a luxury product indeed...
