Many people never take the first step toward writing or doing something truly fulfilling because they believe no one is going to appreciate their work or it won't succeed, so many doubts. With the writing example I was like that when I first joined Hive. I know I'm not a professional writer and before I wrote I wondered whether people would care but I decided to do it anyway
For the people in a similar position, they picture the quietude that will follow after they hit publish and they figure it's not worth the time or the effort. But the truth is, you're correct in your assumption, initially, no one will read what you write, this is natural.
You are not yet writing for an audience, you are writing as an exercise in developing into someone who is worthy of being read. Every single word in every single post and every space in between each draft of your work is developing your palate, your ability to make value judgments and your ability to make a point that is received positively. You cannot develop these skills by waiting for someone to grant you permission to develop them.
The internet is littered with so many people who never wrote, people with an idea, an opinion or a story will never see publication. The only thing distinguishing the people you follow from the group I just mentioned is that the latter took action. That's all it took, action.
So stop overthinking the process, just write, post, or do whatever it is you're over second guessing. When you do, you'll be ignored for a while, but eventually, you'll get better, and this will create a cycle of improvement.
If you don't start somewhere, you will never end up anywhere. So start for yourself, start as a means to be the person you're meant to become, period.
