A wedding is just for a day, in fact, just a few hours, and it is always one of the best moments in the lives of couples. This is why many people wouldn't mind elaborating on it when there is money. When money was no object for most people who could not afford a big wedding and if wishes were horses for them, they would gladly make it fantabulous and let the world know about it. Have you watched "The Wedding Party" by Adesua and Banky W? You can see how massive and glamorous the wedding is even though it's a movie but it happens in reality with the richest people who wouldn't mind spending millions to grace the wedding of their children. Haa...money is good!
I once attended a fabulous wedding of a relative from my mother's side three years ago (sorry, no pictures) and that was when I knew that once there is money, there is nothing you cannot do except for someone like me who wouldn't want a big party with lots of money, even though my siblings might not want to accept that because they don't like a 'get inside' wedding but one which will make the world know that something is happening.
A family photo at an event. The lady next to me is my big sister whom we attended the wedding together.
I attended the wedding with my big sister. We had planned for this event as we kept following up with our uncle who was updating us on how it would go and the venue where it would take place. First of all, the groom's family are wealthy and my uncle wasn't that rich but still lived a comfortable life. I must say that the groom's family took responsibility for the whole occasion and the wedding went viral and became the talk of the town.
First thing first, the venue was located at a big event center in Lagos and it was said to be the best and biggest hall center which was also expensive. Remember I told you the groom's family are wealthy people and didn't mind the cost of things. When we got there, we couldn't close our mouths because of how massive the hall was. Even the Cab man who took us there exclaimed and said, "This wedding was one of its kind". To tell the truth, my cousin was lucky to get a man from the family.

Entering the hall, we were welcomed with flashing light bulbs that almost blinded our eyes but we were careful enough not to look in that direction for long. Other lights were blinking everywhere and music was flowing up and down. The DJ got a nice selection of songs for the wedding and it made my head swell up and wish it was my wedding. I was also wishing for a wedding like this in my mind but of course, money can only be the tool to make such a wedding happen.
Everyone was welcomed with snacks on their tables as the arrangement was done in curves but there was a way to see what was happening as they planted some projectors on the wall to make the show lively so that everyone would be able to see what was going on in a clear view. Thank God we got a seat at the front because we are also part of the family.
Not long after we arrived, the wedding started. The groom stood in front of the altar while the bride's father walked in holding the bride's hand, taking some gentle steps to the front where the pastor would pronounce them as both husband and wife. Every guest stood up and sang a hymn welcoming them in. After the end of the hymn, both people stood in front of the pastor who blessed their union, and asked some questions from both of them; do you accept this man/woman to be your wedded husband/wife in sickness, death, riches, etc? And both of them said, "Yes, I do". After exchanging vows, they wore rings on their left fingers and kissed each other. The church wedding ended while we proceeded to the reception ground where it became more interesting.
This was the part where games were hosted. The game centred around asking each other questions to know how much both of them knew each other. Both couples sat down on two different chairs with their back facing each other so that none would look at each other's faces. Questions that were asked which I could remember some were:
- What is the size of your partner's shoe?
- What is the favourite colour of your partner?
- How many times did you visit each other during courtship?
- How did you both meet?

The answers must tally with each other and if not, it means they don't know each other enough. Lol, It was so funny and interesting. After the section, they moved to a dancing competition and the wife won. The rich guests stood up and sprayed a thousand naira notes and I was looking at the money on the ground, I couldn't stop getting surprised at the wedding. I must say the couple must have retrieved the money they spent on the wedding back from the guests.
When it got to giving gifts to the couple, I saw envelopes being handed to the couples, others brought physical gifts; both in big and small sizes. As they were doing this, we saw some groups of ladies and men who came to dance and I was told they were hired to entertain everyone. It got more glamorous with different dancing styles and sweet songs related to the wedding.
The most important thing was how surplus food and drinks were. People ate and took takeaways back home. Apart from the food, snacks and sweets were being served to all guests. They shared lots of souvenirs for all guests including blenders, buckets, mugs, torchlights, umbrellas etc. It was the best and most fabulous wedding I ever attended in my life apart from the ones I watched in movies. Money is important and when there is enough, the wedding will be glamorous.
As my sister and I were going home, we kept talking about the wedding and the souvenirs we got when calculated were more than $20 each. They spent a lot on this event and all thanks to the groom's family who were caring and loving, not minding the low state of my uncle.
