"Dara it's weekend can we at least go out to have fun," Janet my friend said when she came out of her room and saw me on my laptop already.
"Jane see I need to do this report if not, I might get sacked by Monday morning," I replied while my eyes were fixed on the laptop screen.
"Really? Like seriously? Let me get ready and still meet you on that laptop," Janet replied as she went back into her room to bath.
Janet and I met at the university when I was about to write my project and ever since then we have been friends, she owns the house we were living together, her parents were late and she was the only child of the family so she took me in so that she wouldn't be lonely.
Janet and I have been friends for not too long but it feels like we have known eachother forever, she made me happy because she is very fun to be with, she loves going out and she owns her business which makes her more independent to do anything she likes whenever she wants. Unlike me after graduating from the university I couldn't find a befitting job to do, so my aunty linked me up with one of her customers and I got a front desk office job.
The pay was not much but still, it makes me happy that I am doing something meaningful with my life.
"Don't tell me you are still there Dara," Janet said as she came out of her room again.
"See Jane, just give me some minutes I will be done," I replied with a sorry face.
"Five minutes babe," she replied.
"Some hours later I was ready and we set to leave the house so I asked, "Where are we going today,".
"I was thinking we should do something different than going to the eatery or bar," Janet replied.
"What's new under the sun?" I replied laughing.
"No, I mean what we haven't done before, like you and I," she replied with a fake smile.
She continued...
"Let's go to the fun fair this time, to meet new people and have fun with kids," Jane said.
"Funfair? Why? When I am not s child," I replied laughing so loud.
"Stop Dara, fun fair is not for kids alone," she replied.
She drove off to the nearest fun fair and when we got there I was surprised that adults were there driving kid's cars and having fun with wheels.
"Wow, this is beautiful," I said looking at the big wheels.
"I told you, you will love it here," Jane replied.
"Am loving it already, this is my first time in a fun fair," I replied with a smile on my face.
We played different games and I insisted on riding the wheels so Janet paid and I quickly jumped into it. Immediately the wheel moved my heart race and I began to shout.
"Arrrh, ah," while I was feeling dizzy.
When I got out of the wheel I started vomiting before Jane got to where I was.
"Are you ok?" A thick voice said behind me.
"Am trying to be ok," I replied without looking at the person's face.
"Dara, are you ok?" Jane said immediately she got there.
"Yeah," I replied while I was trying to catch my breath Janet and the guy beside me started talking and I wanted to see his face so I raised my head, but the sun ray from the sky wouldn't allow me to see his face, so I face down back.
Some minutes later, I was just feeling better so I sat somewhere drinking ice cream while I watched Janet enjoy herself with a car driving.
"Hi, are you ok now?" I heard the voice again and this time he was right in front of me but he was so tall to the extent that I had to stand up so that I could see his face.
"Yeah I am better now, and thanks for the hospitality," I replied as I sat back on the chair.
"Can I join you?" He asked.
"Of course, it's a free world," I replied without looking at his side.
Some minutes later, he started a conversation but I didn't answer him.
"Angel am talking to you," he said and when I was about to answer him Janet came.
"Don't mind her, so what were you talking about," Janet joined him and they started talking they exchanged contact while I was there staring at the both of them.
Some weeks later,
"I was at home and the bell at the door rang.
"Jane, are you expecting someone?" I asked with a loud voice because Janet was in her room.
"Get the door," she shouted from inside.
I opened the door and it was the same guy I ignored at the fun fair some weeks ago, so I greeted him with a fake smile.
"Hi,"
"Hello angel," he replied as he stepped in, at first I thought he and Janet had chemistry maybe he had switched to Janet not knowing he was begging Janet to help him get me, if not I wouldn't have let him in. Meanwhile, the house is not mine so I can't ignore Janet's visitor.
"Hey handsome," Janet greeted immediately as she came outside of her room.
They were talking for some seconds and I noticed Janet stood up and went outside as if she was going somewhere.
"And where are you going without your guy?" I asked.
"He is yours and not mine, he is here for you Dara so don't let this good guy pass you by," she replied before opening the door. Those words gave me goosebumps because Janet had never been that serious before and before she could say that she must have seen something good about the guy so I was calm to listen to what he had to say.
"Am Joshua by name, I just wanted love that's all, and immediately I set my eyes on you at the fun fair I knew you were mine," he said when he noticed I was calm.
We chatted for some hours and after that day we became friends, some months later we started dating and he happened to be a great guy.
"I told you, you would love it at the fun fair now the trip to the fun fair has brought a good man into your life," Janet made fun of me after I told her we had started dating.
"If not for you I wouldn't have gone to the fun fair and you also kept the guy for me, you are such an angel, Jane," I replied as I hugged her.
Some years later, Joshua and I got married and we traveled out of the country because he insisted that he wanted to raise his kids abroad.
