To start this off, I'm a huge fan of the Kingdom Hearts Series. So naturally when I saw the first trailer showcasing Kingdom Hearts 3, I was pretty much in tears. Who wouldn't be? It had been about 10 years since a proper sequel at the time. Everyone had been losing hope and it seemed like Square Enix was content just pushing out more hand-held games. Don't get me wrong most of them were amazing in their own right and weren't just fillers. They all had good story lines and tied directly into the plot of the main games except in a few circumstances. (I'm looking at you Coded.)

However many of these games didn't focus on the main character of the series, Sora. It was also frustrating not being able to have a conclusive ending to the series after all those years. Everyone was ecstatic when they dropped the bombshell on us that finally, we were going to get a proper main game. Many of us hoped that it would even drop on the PS4 within 2 more years. Reasonable seeing as games of triple A status usually only take 3 years to produce. Sadly that wasn't the case as most of you probably know. It has currently been 5 years since the announcement trailer. The big question on many of our minds is,

To answer that question we head to Nomura himself who stated "We revealed this game way too early." Honestly who could blame them though? KH3 was becoming more of a myth and people were starting to become convinced it would never see the light of day. If they waited any longer people would give up hope completely and drop the series from their want list. It was a decision that had to be made in a hurry. Sadly KH fans had their flames of hype ignited only for them to slowly burn out once more.

That wait is almost over. With the orchestra trailer dropping in and slamming us with so many new game play mechanics and new story, it has showed all of us they have not been wasting their time. They also promised a new world release and an even longer trailer next month at D23. Keep an eye on July 15th, and mark it on your calender's. I never remember important dates, but I sure as hell won't forget this one. So what does all this rapid information they are giving us mean?

Finally, all this information is showing us that they are up to speed and are ready to make more regular announcements about the game. However, keep in mind I said release year, not release date. While it is true that they have made significant progress on the game, Nomura said that the game isn't more than 2/3rd's complete earlier this year. There are more worlds that they hadn't even touched yet from his words. I would say the year I'm expecting now is 2019 at this point in time. The reason for this is that the president of Square says that they intend to release KH3 and FFVII remake "within the next 3 years or so." Its important to remember that it can be any time within those three years however, and we may be seeing a release of 2018. I have no doubts that it will be late 2018 if we get that though.

With all this said and done, what are your thoughts on the game? Anything Kingdom Hearts I'm willing to discuss, as I have a good grasp on the series including lore. What games are on your watch list and why? Thanks for reading!
