So I got a bad ass laptop and have been mining with it to get some mining XP and just to understand how it works. my laptop has a GTX 1070 GPU, 16 G B of RAM and a quad core I7. I've tried 2 mining pools so far mining pool hub https://vertcoin.miningpoolhub.com/ for Vertcoin was yeilding about 30-31 MH/s and generating about .25 VTC (about $2) per day. I have also used NiceHash miner which basically sells your computing power for bitcoin. you can do multi coin mining like this and since I use my cpu as well, I am making about $3.80 worth of bitcoin per day. I have not gotten my first electric bill yet and I still didn't get my power consumption meter in yet so I'm not sure if this is profitable yet but I would just like to document my results.
I believe that if I keep looking/ get thrown a bone by more experienced miners that I can find an even more profitable set up. I have not over clocked my gpu as I won't completely dedicate this computer to mining, so I am sure I can get a better output. This was just an experiment with equipment that I already had to see if it is worth the investment to build a dedicated mining rig. I think it may be..
I am considering starting small with just a barebones build with 1 or 2 GPUs and build up to 6. I think at the very least It would be a fun hobby, and it would be fun to document the process on steemit. If any one has tips or pointers or think I don't know what the hell I'm talking about I would love some advice.
